TranslateAll - a pocket dictionary

With the variety of languages you deal with nowadays, it's never bad to have a dictionary in your pocket. Are there websites in a foreign language or emails you don't fully understand? TranslateAll by J.O.E. offers a database of 63 languages and lets you translate everything, supported with a systemwide copy/paste feature.

How to use it?

TranslateAll is very easy to use. Choose an input and output language and start typing a word or phrase you wish to translate. In case you don't select the correct input language, TranslateAll suggests you one with an auto-detect feature. To get the translation, click on "Tap here to translate" - results are suggested in case you misspelled something.

Copy/paste feature and voice output

Every translated word or phrase can be pronounced to you with voice output. Click on the volume icon to use this option.

TranslateAll also offers a systemwide copy/paste feature. Let's say you receive an email in a language you don't understand, just copy it's content or single phrases/words with the N9 copy function (usually by selecting words and keep them pressed until a "Copy" menu shows up). Back in TranslateAll you click the "paste" icon, which is available in the text input window - now you can translate a text in any available language. Of course it works the same way visa versa.

There is one limit though: Till PR1.1 is out, the native N9 browser doesn't support any copy/paste function. Therefore it's impossible to use the advantages of TranslateAll while browsing through the web. A solution is to use another web browser like Opera Mobile where it works very well.

Get it from Nokia Store

TranslateAll will not replace professional dictionaries and only offers a word-to-word translation. The quality of translations is the one of Google's translation services (which is pretty good though). The only disadvantage we found is, that this app requires internet connection - in a foreign country this could be problematic, especially since TranslateAll is ideal to learn some local phrases with voice output. But this shouldn't keep you away from downloading this amazing application for free from Nokia Store:
