Notekeeper brings Evernote to Nokia N9

Evernote is a very popular notetaking application to access any kind of notes at any place - offline or online. There have been attempts by 3rd party developers to create an client for Nokia N9 but without any convincing results.

Now we finally get to enjoy "Notekeeper" - a successful Symbian application which has been ported to MeeGo Harmattan.

What is Evernote?

Evernote allows users to take notes, save the locally or upload them (using Evernote cloud service) with the possibility to access them online or via various devices. Evernote doesn't only support plain text but also almost any kind of attachments including pictures, voice notes, locations (geolocation tags), documents, emails etc.

The cloud service also allows other users to edit or create notes (if enabled) which makes it a very helpful tools for group projects, brainstorming or simply for sharing information or documents.

Evernote is available on several platforms like OSX, Windows, iOS, Android, Blackberry but also via website with plugins for Opera browser, Firefox and Chrome.

Understandably local storage of notes is only possible with their application which can be downloaded from the official Evernote website.

Notekeeper for Nokia N9

With Notekeeper you can finally enjoy an almost complete Evernote suite on Nokia N9. The application allows you to access an create notes (incl. images, PDF's, audio), notebooks as well as tags and save them online or offline (favor notes for full offline access). Internet connection isn't necessary - in our opinion a great advantage of the application. Notes which are created offline can easily be uploaded the next time you have online access.

A wonderful feature of Notekeeper is the possibility to share notes or attachment to Evernote from any application (like Gallery, Documents, internet browser, etc) within the system - simply press the share button and chose Notekeeper.

Two small drawbacks are the missing features of editing rich-text notes or rename/remove notebooks and tags. But that doesn't reduce the overall great experience of this application.

For every Evernote user Notekeeper is a must-have application since it is currently the only working full-fledged Evernote client for the Nokia N9. Notekeeper is coded smartly and clean using the MeeGo typical user interface and its advantages. If you didn't know yet about Evernote, I recommend to have a look at the free desktop application and trial version of Notekeeper before you purchase the full version from Nokia Store. As long as you don't chose premium features, signing up is free at Evernote.
