Firefox mobile for N9

It has been months where N9 users were stocked with the native web browser. Just three days ago, we surprisingly got an official version of Opera browser - and as if that wouldn't be enough, we even got now the popular Firefox mobile browser to enjoy on our N9. This week we really got spoiled!

Firefox is the most popular web browser on desktop computers and tries to find its way to the mobile market. The N9/N950 platform belongs to the few ones, who get to enjoy this "shrunk" desktop browser; Desktop browser, because Firefox mobile comes with a lot of features and function of its big brother.

Add-ons and more

The preference menu offers a lot - Next to basic configurations, you get a download manager/overview, and what might catch your attention most, Add-ons. In case you already use Firefox on your computer, you have can easily sync them with each other.

Browsing

The browsing experience is great and websites are loaded very fast (feels very improved compared to Firefox's pre-version Fennec). Sometimes scrolling feels a bit laggy, but I'm sure this will improve in future versions and it's not decreasing the web experience at all.

Tap&swipe from the middle of the browser window opens a grey bar with favorites, forward and backward button as well as the settings menu. The left handed side is an overview of open websites (multitasking) - see pictures below.

Flash support?

UPDATE: Adobe Flashplayer now available for Firefox: Click to read more

Recently there are growing indications, that a next version of Firefox mobile will support Adobe Flash, which is for lots of users a big enrichment of the web experience and missing in several mobile phone platforms - also on Nokia N9. Even though not everyone might want to take advantage of this option, it is an important addition to the N9 and let the user benefit from all the advantages of desktop browsing (except of the small display...)

Don't miss out on Firefox mobile and...
