MeeGo Harmattan update PR 1.2 not only brought obvious enhancements like folders and video call, but many improvements and more options you can't see straight away.
We uncover and present three of them: Color profiles, different clock styles and selectable default browser.
Different clock styles
The standard analogue N9 clock looks very stylish, but users who prefers a digital clock can change that simply by going to: Settings / Time and language / Time and date / Clock type and choose the preferred clock.

Color profiles
In Settings / Device / Display there is a new sub menu called Color profile. Options to choose from are Normal, Vivid and Subdued:
-Normal: The way your N9 used to be
-Vivid: Strong and bright colors, makes the user interface very painty.
-Subdued: Like the name says, rather subdued colors. The user interface gets kind of a vintage look.
What is the purpose of those color profiles?
First of all it lets you slightly change the look of your N9. The subdued look convinced me a lot and looks very pleasant, although to others this might make the N9 look washed-out. Second it probably helps to save some battery life.
We compared the display battery usage for 10 minutes with the two extremes Vivid and Subdued. The result was that Subdued mode only consumed around 75%-80% of what Vivid mode does.
This shouldn't be a big influence on the overall battery life. A low screen brightness is more important and keeps your mobile measurable longer alive.

Default browser and Emoticon theme
Newly Settings / Applications / Web / Default browser gives you a free choice for the default web browser. So far the only options are native browser and Firefox (Opera mobile isn't in the list). The chosen browser will always open as soon as you click on a internet address (link) anywhere on your phone. If you don't use N9 browser at all and love Firefox this option comes handy. Else we don't recommend that. In our opinion the N9 browser is still the best and fastest way to look at mobile websites.
The last new option we want to show you, is the one where you can switch themes of emoticons (smiley sets). Unfortunately there is no other theme available than the standard one, so there's nothing there to change. Maybe the famous Emoji smileys soon on N9?
The yet useless option can be found in Settings / Applications / Messages / Emoticon theme
