The award winning SoundHound application is now available for Nokia N9 under the name SoundWave thanks to Bojan Komljenovic (developer of Dropian & part of Wazapp team). SoundHound is an music recognition software similar to its equivalent Shazam.
With the application it's possible to identify a song title by humming, singing or playing a recorded track.

The company's "Sound2Sound" technology can even match poorly-hummed performances or recordings which are interfered by ambient noises.
SoundWave needs a working internet connection to send recordings to the database. But no worries in case you are abroad or aren't online for some reasons: Saved song fragments are saved offline and will be analyst once you're back online.

Furthermore you have 5 main menus, including music recognition window, history of found songs, search (by typing artist or title), charts and settings.
Soundwave might still have some minor bugs and 1-2 rough UI edges. We also discovered a problem with YouTube videos and the small drawback that lyrics aren't displayed within the application. But this is an initial release and updates will certainly follow.
SoundWave is now available in Nokia Store for about € 5.00 (check Nokia Store for local currency/price) which is about the price you would also pay on Apple's AppStore or Google Play for the full version. Official announcement by developer including discussion can be found at talk.maemo.org.
