Simple solution for (much) better battery life with Jolla

Despite being labeled as 'beta', Jolla is already a very mature product. Yes there are some missing features, some bugs - but nothing which will keep you away from using this fantastic device. But there is one issue which stands out: Battery life. Jolla's high battery consumption often makes the device go sleep before dusk (early winter dusk!) - weren't we all hoping for the opposite? Fortunately it's 'only' a bug which causes bad battery life - and as so often, there's a simple solution to it.

Jolla TOHThe problem seems to be connected to "The Other Half" (TOH). Via NFC the phone determines what Other Half you're using at the moment. Due to a bug, the phone enables constantly a NFC connection to the Other Half (1 time when switching the back cover should be enough) and empties the battery even in standby mode.

You can disable the service via terminal. But in case you don't want to risk using developer mode, there is a very simple, practical alternative. You only need some:

1. Aluminium foil (for example the one you find in your kitchen)

2. Some sticky tape (scotch tape)

Remove The Other Half from your Jolla and find the spot where the NFC chip is installed (see picture). Now put a small piece of aluminium foil on top of it to cover that part of TOH and finally fix it with some tape.

Thanks to that small piece of aluminium which interrupts the connection, your Jolla's battery life should improve a lot (at least until an official bug-fix). What are your experiences?
