Embellish your Jolla and support reforestation with Lastu

As JollaUsers wrote a couple days ago, one of many The Other Half wishes became reality. Thanks to
the Finish company Droplet Hitech Design based in Oulu and their Lastu cases, Jolla owners get to enjoy some beautiful wooden covers. As a big fan of wooden designs, it is great to see that what Lastu does is more than just smartphone cases:

The origin of the wood and manufacturing takes on an important role at Lastu. The design as well as manufacturing is done by the same company from start to finish. A high priority is given to the environment at Lastu: No wood types that are endangered or protected are being used. Lastu only processes wood that supports sustainable development. They therefore work in a close cooperation with their wood suppliers from Finland which provide Lastu with the optimal wood for durable and thin products.

Every product is manufactured individually and therefore offers a variety of customization like different types of wood, engraved patterns or even your own custom logo. To deliver the highest quality, all products are polished and waxed several times by hand.

With every sold Lastu case, around 4€ go to the Greepop project:
This year Lastu is supporting a reforestation and education project in Zambia with partner Greenpop. Accoring to the United Nations Environment Program, 80% of worlds original forests got lost within the last decade. The worldwide extrem high demand for cheap and/or exotic woods causes huge environmental damages which not only affect those regions, but the hole world.

With environmental education in those regions, Greenpop teaches people the awareness and a sustainable consumption of wood. With outdoor lessons, the importance of trees are explained and everything about plantation and water systems. The aims of Greenpop and Lastu are following:

1. Create awareness around the deforestation issue and highlight grassroots solutions that can start being implemented
2. Develop a culture of planting trees within communities through conservation education, and by teaching people how to plant and look after trees
3. Highlight the global value of conserving the world’s natural forests
4. Promote and provide alternative energy sources, so that people can move away from the dependence on charcoal
5. Start reforestation in protected forest sites to replace the pioneer trees, allowing for new growth and regeneration of soil content

Lastu on Jolla

It's amazing that Lastu also thought of Jolla (Finnish design fcertainly looks good on Finnish design) next to their offered skins and cover for various smartphones and other devices like MacBooks.

At the moment there are only wooden sticker skins available for Jolla phones. That means that you can stick one of Lastu's skins on top of an The Other Half you already own. Of course those skins can be added or removed without hurting your Jolla cover.

According to a tweet on Lastu's Twitter account  a complete TOH is being planned as an result of a pleasant high demand for Jolla cases.

The wooden skins are available in different colors/woods and patterns:
  • Plain Wooden skin for € 25* - more about it here
  • Lastu Arc Wooden Skin with unique design and shapes for € 30* - more about it here

Some of the skins allow you to engrave your own logo or text. Simply send an usable logo to info[at]lastucase.com with your order.

*The price includes shipping costs within Europe
