Those who had the courage and chance to pre-book a Jolla device for Euro 100 back in May to August, are enjoying now the unique "Poppy Red Limited Edition" other half.
With the only available The Other Half (TOH) in white (at the moment), it is quiet special to walk around with a black & red Jolla saying "The First One" on the back. The limited TOH not only changes the appereance of the phone, but also it's "mood".

As soon as the poppy red (poppy is a flowering plant which is quiet common in Europe) is attached to a Jolla device the user can download a special ambience from the store which includes a new background. When using the new ambience, one immediately hears some new sounds (with beautiful piano tunes) for: calendar, clock, email, SMS, messages and ringtone.
The small downside is that you can't listen to those tunes until the phone plays them (they are not displayed in sound settings). So you might have to let the caller wait a bit until you finished listening to the new ringtone. But for those who can access their phone via SSH or USB-IP adress find those tunes under: /usr/share/ambiance/ambiance-the-first-one/sounds/
What I personally like most is the ringtone. The music is accompanied by voices of the Jolla team in several different languages and represents their international diversity.
Jolla Special TOH with red Ambience |
On community website together.jolla.com user ossi1967 asked a great question: Is there some background info about this ringtone?
Jolla co-founder Stefano Moscano answered that for a long time they didn't have any special ringtone for the "First Ones".
Finally in October Jolla's design team came up with an idea when the company had a "bugfixing week" in Helsinki with people from all over the world (Europe, Australia and US).
Around 700 bugs were fixed while a professional sound recorder visited Jolla to record voices, random sentences and laughs during the most intense moments of their journey to bring the unique device to the public.
"It's our personal note to you, a company made of real people, also in the ringtone" says Moscano and shows again that Jolla isn't just a brand with a name and a product, it's also about the people behind and around it.
